This post comes back on some of our actions to support the development of agroforestry practices in Malawi.
1. Based on a solid analysis of the context, a first note highlights the conditions and challenges to meet the wood needs of rural families while maintaining and developing the tree cover around and within farms. The note is available in the resources below.
2. A study to better understand the wood needs at household level and the solutions implemented has been carried out in 2016. It can be consulted at the following address: http://interaide.org/pratiques/content/analyse-des-besoins-en-bois-des-menages-ruraux-au-malawi-et-solutions-concretes
3. A document, also available here below, presents solutions and calendars for seeds collection and for the production of seedlings in the area of Phalombe, located in the southern part of the country.
Finally, other notes will be added in the coming months, in particular a study of the the wood & energy supply chain, etc.
