This technical note presents 4 practices used in Madagascar for the production and the planting of tree seedlings: 1./ The use of direct sowing of the seeds on site (with sometimes a pre-germination of the seeds);  2./ The use of dip treatment when transplanting bare-roots seedlings;  3./ The production of seedlings in nursery pellets;  4./ The use of spontaneous seedlings.

For more information on direct sowing using pre-germinated seeds, you can read Inter Aide’s note: https://reseau-pratiques.org/en/tree-plantations-directly-site-pre-germinated-seeds/.
